Commuter Feed: a free Twitter tool to post reports on traffic/transit in your local area
Commuter Feed is a website designed to let community members of the popular Twitter micro blogging service tell the world what's in store for their daily travels (traffic? transit delays?...) by utilizing the Twitter API to display traffic and transit updates for a user's local area.
Commuter Feed works for any city that has an IATA airport code worldwide. Each metropolitan area then gets its own page and its own RSS feed. The service was created to serve the needs of daily commuters who wish to learn about traffic and transit delays from fellow commuters. According to their website recent updates are posted online once every 2 minutes.
An example of alert post for Chicago: "@commuter CHI Lane closed, on DAN RYAN EXPY EB at 18TH ST: ACCIDENT; RIGHT LANE CLOSED; EMERGENCY CREWS ARE ON THE SCENE; STAY LEFT".

Commuters can also follow/post traffic reports at Commuter Feed with Pownce, another micro blogging service.
ITS Midwest does not endorse the use of phone while driving.
