ITS Midwest held its 2008 Annual Meeting on October 30-31, 2008 at the Ohio DOT Auditorium in Columbus, OH. The 2008 Annual Meeting of the new, four-state ITS Midwest chapter was held in conjunction with the Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference in Columbus, OH. OTEC's annual meeting was October 28 and 29, and ITS Midwest provided a panel of speakers for an informative ITS session on the 29th. We enjoyed this partnership with OTEC.

ITS Midwest Secretary/President-Elect Karen George opened the meeting with a warm welcome, thanking everyone for attending and exhibiting, and thanking all those who helped make the meeting a success. An ITS Midwest program followed that provided technical sessions, vendor exhibits, and the opportunity to network with colleagues and fellow professionals from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and elsewhere. We look forward to even greater participation in future events and activities being planned for ITS Midwest. A successful and fun "Get Acquainted" networking reception took place the evening of October 30^th.

ODOT’s Assistant Director, Jolene Molitoris, delivered the keynote speech and welcomed everyone to Ohio. Ms. Molitoris highlighted the great work that the Ohio 21st Century Transportation Priorities Task Force is doing. Ms. Molitoris encouraged everyone to participate and provide input into not just the 21st Century Transportation Task Force, but also to the upcoming Federal Transportation Reauthorization Bill.  (For more information about Ms. Molitoris, read the ODOT Press Release "Director appoints Jolene Molitoris as Assistant Director")
